Skyward Sword Shoots for a November 20th Release Date

August 26, 2011 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Games

Anyhow, that’s right folks! Nintendo just keeps the Zelda 25th Anniversary train rolling nonstop! Following the release of Ocarina of Time 3D and the upcoming port of the GBA Four Swords in September, Nintendo has announced today that the upcoming Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will be hitting North American shelves this November 20th! And about time they mentioned a freaking release date, if you ask me.

Nintendo accompanied this announcement by citing the game as “a massive, multilayered world that takes players from dark dungeons to a diverse overworld to cloud cities in the sky, requiring a combination of puzzle-solving and swordplay to unlock all of its secrets”; the last bit being my personal favorite aspect about Skyward Sword. I’ve always loved puzzle solving in the Zelda series, but after Twilight Princess, I wasn’t feeling like the swordsman Link is anymore; even while playing the Wii version of the game. So I’m glad that swordplay becomes a more essential element in Zelda. It will make room for more strategizing and devising attack methods for different enemies.

It’s only fitting that this game would release this November. I was actually starting to assume that this game may be pushed for a January release, missing the whole point of celebrating 25 years of Zelda. Oh sh*t I just jinxed the thing! Quick guys! Go to Nintendo HQ and demand your Skyward Sword copies!

Amazon stops selling Xbox Live Arcade game codes

May 11, 2011 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Xbox

Amazon.com has decided to stop selling redemption codes for Xbox Live Arcade games following a year-long pilot program with Microsoft.

Microsoft has been expanding the ways in which people can gain access to Xbox Live Arcade games, including through new “Downloadable Content Centers” at GameStop stores and through other channels. As Microsoft tweaked its strategy for selling game codes through third-party merchants, Amazon decided to discontinue sales of game codes for specific Xbox Live Arcade games, a source told seattlepi.com.

At Amazon, gamers can still purchase Xbox Live points, which can be used to download Arcade games via an Xbox console. But at amazon.com/xboxlive and when users go to an Arcade game product page, they now get the following message:

We are no longer selling Xbox LIVE arcade game codes on Amazon.com. Customers can continue to purchase Xbox LIVE points on Amazon.com and those points can be redeemed through their Xbox consoles to purchase any of the games that were previously available.

Amazon declined to comment further for seattlepi.com. But Xbox spokesman David Dennis sent the following statement:

Amazon is a great partner and we continue to work with them to sell Live subscription cards and Microsoft Points cards. Retailers make decisions about what products they wish merchandize and we respect those decisions.

The Amazon-Xbox service was popular because gamers could see game reviews, star ratings and additional recommended games. When a gamer purchased an Xbox Live Arcade game at Amazon, the game immediately popped up on their Xbox dashboard.

British car insurance price rise slows

May 10, 2011 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Uncategorized

The rocketing cost of car insurance is deemed too slow. The rate of price increase for comprehensive cover has dropped from 37.8% end of last year to 35.5% at the end of March. The insurance industry has been noted to shoot their rates by jaw dropping percentages and this was actually the first insurance price slow down noted since mid 2008. A recent survey revealed that motorists will drive less due to increased cost of driving. This may however not be so if the slowdown in car insurance, especially for Alberta insurance, prices remains constant.

The car insurance industry is a very competitive industry. The many comparison sites available have led to a struggle between insurance companies where they aim to attract the better market. This is a fact that has and will continue to contribute to price slow down in motor insurance premiums. It is however not a guarantee as insurance companies have confessed of suffering great losses due to fraudulent cases, and uninsured drivers just to mention a few. If such cases are not reduced, it will be hard for the insurers to reduce their rates further.

Another factor that has led to a slowdown in motor insurance is the decrease in car accidents. The road safety government statistics have recorded a decrease in the number of accidents annually. Road safety campaigns have been held time and again and its effect is evident. The amount insurance companies spend in making compensations in case of accidents are hence decreasing. This may increase their ability to lower their rates without risking recording loses.

Uninsured drivers have proved to be a massive problem and also a major cause of the rising rate of car insurance. There has been a hunt down for them by the British Insurance Brokers who now have the full support of the government. If the law will successfully keep them off the road, then there will ultimately be a chance of insurance rate reduction. So far the police have increased powers to clamp down the vehicles of drivers that are not insured. The number of seized cars is currently around 500 000.

It is evident that if the causes of car insurance compensation are kept on the minimal then we stand a better chance of enjoying affordable car insurance rates in the near future. It goes without saying that the insurance industry will try to retain itself in the market in spite of the high cost of running the business caused by numerous claims. Compensation of these claims requires them to spend billions of pounds. If these compensations can be reduced by having more road conscious drivers, then we may just be on the road to a constant slow down in the premiums price required to keep your car insured.

Most of the accidents are caused by careless drivers. Planning to be more cautions on the road will help you arrive alive and ultimately save you from facing high car insurance rates. Raising the cost of insurance for drivers with penalty points will also contribute to the ultimate car insurance price slowdown.

Finding Kids Games Is a tough Assignment

February 27, 2011 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Games

Games are a passion for me ever since I was a kid.
Nothing has changed even now when I have kids. Moreover, I can now share my passion with my kids.

We have at home Nintendo DS, Xbox 360, Sony PS2 and PSP.

STILL, I prefer to play the classic and cool games in the Internet, what is called “Free Online Games”.

Sony produced a good variety of kids games this year, the sort of kid games the kids really want to stick with.

Nintendo also have some fabulous games. I’ll go even further Nintendo has games that we almost cannot live
without!

The classics are Mario and some Shooters games and sports, and SONY undeniably has the top Kid games, of
role playing, great shooters, etc. I could go on and on.

I enjoyed some unusual board games or vintage kid games which we played as a kid, but, in my opinion, none
can match the sheer power of enjoyment kids get now from the top computer game creators.

Publishers are more and more aware today of the Game Influence on kids, and you can see it in their
advertisement and the game they produce. Some “keep them safe” type kid games are available that have
been designed for twins and teens. They are full blown actual computer games that take kids through the
experience of being hood-winked by internet predators.

The reason that such a large investment has been put into such games is so that kids can learn to recognize
the signs and distinguish between the Game Reality and the real life.

It’s very hard to categorize kids games. One can say that most of the online genres are kids games, and they
won’t be mistaken. Board games, Puzzles, Car games, Mario games and Spongebob games are only a small
part of the many kids games available today.

The outdoor kid games include hyper-physical activities such as running, swimming, jumping, etc. All the kid
games we like are set up to be user-friendly so that children can earn small rewards.

When it comes to online games, choosing a game for the kids appears to be a tough task.

We want our kids to play positive games without any bad influence like violence or foul language.
We also want their games to inspire their intellectual and expend their creativity and thinking.

Lucky for us parents, the Internet is full with such games. With proper monitoring we can be sure that our kids
play positive and creative games that even us the parents can play with them.

The Ultimate Fans Of Truck Games

February 24, 2011 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Games

If you love big vehicles games, there are tons of websites you can play those games. Among all the “big cars” games, there are plenty of truck games and monster truck games you can play, and even submit your feedback on the game.

The game 18 wheelers test your parking skills while you need to park the truck into designated parking areas before the time runs out. You quickly find out it’s not such an easy task, controlling those big trucks is not so easy.

Another exciting truck games are the Fire Truck series, such as Fire Truck, Fire Truck 2, Fire Truck Master etc. In this game you play as a fire man in town, and your job is to fill up your truck and run to the rescue of the town, each time a fire is reported.

Again, you need o be at your best to control the truck and drive quickly enough to get to the fire before it’s too late, and you need to show some excellent driving skills.

Dune Buggy allows you to test your ability to perform some stunts in the vehicle and to face different challenges during the game

There is also the Mad Truckers series. You need to make your way to your destination no matter what gets in your way, and remember to stop for food and gas!

The game Hell Cops is a very thrilling and exciting game among all types of the Monster Truck Games. You need to destroy all the things that are in your way. If you cannot destroy all the things, you would not be able to score a high mark and this would then fail to allow you to be the legend.

There is one thing in common in all those truck games, as well as in car games and bike games (probably in all motor games), that the players need to overcome different levels with increasing difficulties.

People sometimes tend to ignore the instructions of the game and fail to notice all kinds of small details that eventually turn out as important to the success of the game. When playing these games, sensitivity is the key. If you are not skilled enough, you will get frustrated. Therefore, a lot of people who have tried to play the monster truck games would recommend people to play other games at the same time, such as the funny games or Ben 10 games, games that are less stressful and easier going.

In conclusion, truck games are very popular among both teenagers and adults. Those games are the subject of many blogs and forums that are truck games dedicated. People are sharing ideas and thoughts about various kind of truck games, and share tips, tricks, walkthrough and patches with each other.

Atari Video Games is Back. With a Bang and a Movie this Time

October 06, 2010 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Uncategorized

Atari – a name that was once absolutely synonymous with gaming, with being on the bleeding edge in technology, creator of worldwide phenomena such as Asteroids and Pong and more importantly, creator of the first home gaming console – could now be on its way back. This legend of high technology that hit a rough spot around the 80s when the gaming market cratered, never saw light at the end of the tunnel since then. It’s been bought and sold by various corporations that found it attractive for its possibilities, but never found a way to actually have those possibilities made good on. Over the years, about $1 billion passed through the company and disappeared in bad investments. After 20 years in limbo the fortunes of Atari video games are finally turning around. The company has its offices in modest quarters in LA, and they have big plans to retake the videogame market that is rightfully theirs.

What’s different this time is this: Nolan Bushnell, the original founder of Atari video games is on the board; people have big hopes – kind of in the way it was when Steve Jobs came back to Apple after decades. Atari’s second shot at stardom is not going to be about making the games to sell at retail stores; Electronic Arts, the videogame maker, just reported major losses this quarter. Doing business selling DVDs on store shelves is fast becoming a thing of the past. What Atari plans to do is to create games for social networks – that’s right, Atari is on Facebook. And the first releases are redesigned versions of grand hits from the past like Missile Command. Is there a reason why they choose Facebook games over other possible options? Of course, the answer is money. After having endured losses for years, Atari can’t afford to spend more than $1 million or so on a game. And Facebook is just the right place for a company with massive appeal that is short on funds.

Atari Video Games over the past decades has been busy buying up other videogame companies; through one of their acquisitions in Europe, they’re coming up with a new racetrack game called Road Test Drive Unlimited; they’ve already released a multiplayer Internet game known as Star Trek Online. They are beginning to put down roots. At this time, Atari’s greatest assets are its massive library of grand old game names from the past. Its main plan for the future will involve building new versions of those all-time favorites. If you think about it, this may be kind of a risky strategy. If people keep seeing the same old names that they know from decades ago, it’s going to turn Atari into a nostalgia brand – not a name for the future.

Actually, representing the past happens to be a part of Atari’s natural appeal, and they want to not lose it in their quest of the new. There are movies coming up based on some of their titles; Universal is making a movie with the Asteroids and Roller Coaster Tycoon game concepts. Only time will tell; but for now, Atari Video Games is back.

Top 80s Arcade Games

October 01, 2010 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Arcade

The most played games in the 1980s include some very familiar titles and some that most people will not remember. For all of you gamers out there playing ?ead Red Redemption?or ?all of Duty?this list will serve to remind you that your favorite games did not just pop up out of thin air, but are the result of years of gaming and gaming research. The top 80s arcade games were the primitive precursors to today? technologically advanced digital games which can even be played by many people at once across the internet. These games may seem prehistoric by today? graphic resolution and imagery standards but many, myself included, will argue that the 80s arcade games were more fun to play.

We need to start with the mama and papa of them all, Pac Man and the subsequently improved Ms. Pac Man. Pac Man wowed fans of 80s arcade games with its intricate game play and ever increasing speed as you advanced through levels. For the two or three people left on earth that have never seen or played Pac Man, the game is basically a two dimensional maze that you have to navigate through with your player, the aforementioned Pac Man. Ghostly figures, appropriately called ?hosts? chase you and try to kill you. If they touch you then you disintegrate and the game is over, or at least your playing piece is dead. You are allotted several players at each level. The point of the game is to reach the glowing spheres which you gobble up and that gives your little blue Pac Man extra power which enables him to eat the ghosts. Sounds silly when you dissect it but man is it fun. Ms. Pac Man came out about a year later and it was even better and faster than the original.

Another of the great 80s arcade games is Centipede. This game can still be found in the retro corner of most major arcades or at the seediest bars you can find in any given neighborhood. Centipede play is still a blast and you can actually play some souped up versions of the classic on X-Box and Playstation. It is difficult to describe Centipede but suffice to say that it involves a long and winding centipede coming down the screen very quickly while you try and shoot it from below. Mushrooms block the way and as the centipede gets closer to the bottom of the screen it becomes super fast and much more difficult to kill.

One of my favorite all time 80s arcade games is Galaga. It is difficult to find the original Galaga anymore, though I believe there is a version of it available for X-Box and/or Playstation. Galaga was an advanced version of the primitive but addictive Space Invaders of the 70s and featured great graphics, squadrons of alien spaceships, and different levels of guns that you could use to kill the alien hordes from deep space. A wonderful game that has yet to be equaled despite techy advances to gaming, which proves the point that games do not need to be super graphic in order to be great.

Game Servers ?The Secret behind MMORPGs

September 05, 2010 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Game Server

In massively multi-player online role playing games (MMORPGs), dedicated game servers are a requirement for seamless game play that makes these games so appealing. The fact that you can connect and play a game like War of Warcraft or Modern Warfare with thousands of other players is no small matter. But thanks to dedicated game servers, online game playing has been taken to a whole new level. Just like you would log into your company database online and view or post data onto the servers, game playing online has also made it possible to log in play a game level, save your game and continue exactly from where you left off. In order to do this, lots of information must be moved between the client and the server as the game progresses and handling all this information requires lots of processing power. Only dedicated servers can help unload slow processors from the client side and allow the ability to use the processing and graphic power of remote processors in dedicated servers.

Game servers do a lot of work. For example, a game server will compare and calculate a character position, distant from other players and animates a character among other things. Servers also notify a client during an attack, reports damage, calculate projectiles as well as determine what kills a character in games like modern warfare.

In the real world however, a dedicated server is actually a misnomer. A number of dedicated game servers are needed for most MMORPGs. Why a number of servers when one has a lot of processing power? These games generally require players to log in, chat or access account information. All servers can be separated and handled by different servers for a number of reasons. A login server, for example, allow gamers to put in their login information and access the game world from anywhere in the world. Chat servers relay text information between different players. A VoIP server allows for voice traffic.

Game servers particularly utilize upstream bandwidth as a result, hosted game servers thus require data centers that allow fast read and data transmission speeds that the average home broadband connection cannot provide. Since most dedicated game servers are run by the software company that owns the game title, they can more easily control and update information and offer the required speeds and environments that allow for the best game play features that can be offered. So the next time you log in to play your War of Warcraft game, remember that dedicated game servers are behind the scene in all that you do.
